North American Wood
For many years we have intense trade relations with the USA. HSS produces for its own needs or imports directly from renowned American wood producers. Our local employees take care of the quality management. We directly ship from North American ports to destinations all over the world. Every year several hundred containers of American sawn timber are shipped directly from the USA to Asia, Eastern Europe, the Arab Emirates or the Mediterranean region.
Large inventories of North American Wood
We maintain large stocks of sawn timber in various species and qualities in our port warehouse and at our site in Soest. We built a warehouse especially for the storage of North American timber such as White Oak, Red Oak, Ash, Hard Maple, Cherry, Walnut, Yellow Poplar, Carolina Pine, Western Red Cedar, Hemlock, Red Alder or Red Elm.
We realize individual cuts, widths and lengths for sawn timber
Our sawn timbers such as White Oak, Walnut, Cherry or Maple are often used as fixed widths for solid flooring or parquet friezes. We also manufacture semi-finished products for the furniture and moulding industry. We can easily meet this demand for various American sawn timbers. We offer not only the common woods but also special features. Different cuts and fixed widths and lengths are possible without any problems.
Sorting according to the NHLA rules
We purchase sawn timber from the USA in all commercial qualities according to the NHLA Rules, the national standard for the American hardwood industry. These NHLA qualities (Prime, FAS, selects, Comsel No. 1 and Comsel No. 2) as well as our own quality grades (Superior Grade and Superior 2 face) developed with our customers, form the basis for the grading of exported sawn timber and have been developed to provide the timber industry with standards for grading classes.
